321 Store Fixtures

Origin:

China

Destination:

321 Stores across Continental US

Objective:

Thirty 40’ unlabeled containers devanned and delivered across the Continental US within a 2 hour arrival window.

The following is a recap of a project that encompassed 321 stores to support a floorset. Originating in China, unloaded at the LA/Long Beach Port. Thirty 40’ containers were devanned. Processed at an off-site warehouse to unload and stage for delivery to stores. Each carton arrived without a shipping label however each carton had a carton marking (item number listed) and store labels were provided. Cartons arrived on double stacked pallets with two fixtures or two glass cartons per pallet.
Container drayage delays pressed the devanning into Saturday along with the last minute auditing requirements. Outbound shipping ( line haul ) remained on schedule, all shipped as defined by the project timeline.

All stores ( 321 ) were called to set up appointments to deliver between 0800 to 1000 on specific days. Fifteen stores were identified as in temporary space and placed on the cancelled list. Pre-calls were completed ( 306 stores ) and appointments confirmed to de-merchandize and clear tables. Initial communication to pick up and destroy Displays was rescinded and re-communicated with all stores.
A YouTube video was produced and posted for the drivers/dispatchers to review for sake of ease at delivery and to set expectations. Communication was produced and distributed to all dispatch locations including the date/time of delivery, process to set up fixtures, removal of all dunnage/debris with completion by 1000 local.

The project was engineered around Long Beach as the origin for devanning. Shipments were line hauled via expedited TL moves to 7 Regional Distribution Centers and then fanned out to 77 Final Mile locations to support 4.16 stores per Final Mile location on average. Delivery windows of 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM were scheduled in advance, this required routing this as the first stops and routing the balance around these time lines.

Critical tracking tools tracked all updates, ( 6,700 data entries ) and it operated flawlessly as the one point of control.
